If in your 40s, it seems OK to me to date guys in their 30s, 40s or 50s. But 50 is a different story. Guys in their 30s are definitely out, guys in their 40s might work, but they might want women in their 30s or 40s, guys in their 50s want girls in their 30s or 40s, and guys in their 60s just seem too old. I am approaching 50, and just over one year separated from my husband. As I look forward and begin to think about the possibility of future relationships, I can see that dating over 50 might be difficult. It seems to me that a 50ish woman is somewhere in no-man’s land for a future relationship. I may be generalizing but do you see the same thing? As I also approach 50, I agree with her no-man’s land comment in many ways.

Anyway, if I see coworkers on dating sites, I think the polite thing to do is just ignore it and move along, so I was not super into the fact that this guy messaged me but I figured he was just being kind of socially obtuse. Dude, if you realized that, why did you message me anyway and tell me that? Anyway, see you Monday! I read and did not respond to the last message. Or would it be better to just block him and pretend it never happened?
It might be useful in general to know how to stop an inappropriate interaction like this in the future, so what would you have done? The awkwardness is in what people do about it. It was inevitable that streams would cross and one of us would bring a dude we were dating to a party and watch him slowly figure out where he knew the rest of us from…because if you liked one of us enough to write to you probably liked all of us…and that we all knew each other….
When seeking romance etc.

We started dating just after Labor Day. He found me on Match. With the exception of 2 weekends 1 in late Sept. I want to see more of him at this point 3 months, especially on Saturday nights. I had an older brother and sister 12 and 15 years my senior respectively, parents who were happy together, and my aunt and cousins lived one street over. Our father-daughter relationship was more like a typical father-son relationship. My mom hated seafood so we would often go get fish together and make fun of people at work, school, etc. My dad is tremendously funny and a phenomenal story teller. I think I always had a high bar when it came to dating because my dad really had it all; he was tall, dark, and handsome, educated, successful, ethical, funny, athletic, and handy.
He was the standard. I was an awkward and creative kid. I wore the same pair of vans tennis shoes to school for 5 years straight, had long un-brushed hair, and wore oversized sweatshirts and jean shorts to school.
